Editor's Comments to the English Edition 

The English translation and edition of Passions de l'ame provided here is based on the 1650 London edition (printed for A.C. and sold by J. Martin and J. Ridley). The identity of the anonymous translator is unknown. This edition includes the Preface, which is only otherwise available in English in Stephen Voss's 1989 translation published by Hackett. As with the French text, I have tried to keep changes to a minimum while modernizing spelling and punctuation. A common correction was to change the adverb "then" to the conjunction "than" where appropriate.
